Life Can Only Be Understood Backwards

"Life would be infinitely happier
if we could only be born at the age of eighty and gradually approach eighteen."
- Mark Twain
I went to go see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button; which is now one of my favorite films of 2008. Few films put a smile on my face this quickly and keep it there for the entire time. I won't tell you want its about, but just that you should go see it. I can see why the studios didn't release The Time Travelers Wife on Dec. 25th like they said they were go to. It would have made for one too many weird genetic disorders in the theater. I guess I will have to wait a little longer for my favorite book to be a movie. Until then I have Mr. Button and his wonderful story.

All are punished!

I wanted a movie where everyone dies. A movie that has so much violence that the film itself explodes. Punisher: War Zone was that film. I can't even begin to give you a body count. If your a fan of the comic book, then this one is for you.

RocknRolla

My friend S and I got together and saw RocknRolla; Guy Ritchie's new film. But first we went to eat at a place in the middle of nowhere. I mean there is nothing but a Dollar General, two big box retailers, Beef O'Brady's and the nothing. That's right it was like The Neverending Story; being surrounded by the nothing. Except that there is no chance of saving this Fantasia. Then it was off to Tinseltown in Canton. I love getting the chance to go see films at other theaters. So this was a treat. RocknRolla out does it self in being a great movie to watch. I can't say much about the plot because it a Guy Ritchie film and that will just confuse everyone. So just go see it.

The Day After

I woke up today and it was a little brighter outside. The air smelled a little cleaner and every cloud seemed to have a silver lining to it. I woke that day and gas was $1.95. It was all a bad dream. I watched the world celebrate that night before just like at the end of Return of the Jedi. My mom put it best by saying that she was happy to know that her sons were able to see American do something right. And I have to agree that it does feel good to know we did something right for a change.

They Say it's Your Birthday

It's my birthday today! It is the best present to wake up and vote today. Well its off to the polls.

YES WE CAN

Well it’s the day before my birthday. More import still, it’s the day before Election Day. I have never been so excited to vote. I am so proud of my sister-in-law; who will be voting for the first time (so cool!). I posted some super cool art work by the people at obeygiant. I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I hope I can make a difference. I hope to see this country do something right for a change. I hope he wins. I hope.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I got to spend the day with the wife and love every second of it. I carved up my pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns. We went to go see Zack and Miri make a Porno; some film by Kevin Smith. We both enjoyed it very much. It was truly funny. Then I stayed up all night long watching all of the Halloween movies. Goodness!

Gifts

The mother-in-law surprised me today by leaving birthday goodness on the front porch. They are some of the coolest presents to get. My parents stopped by last Sunday and gave me cool gifts from Etsy; which made my day.

Have You Seen Me Lately?

That’s right; someone in the town that I live thought it would be cool to steal one of my pumpkins. But they didn't take one of the small ones. Nooooooooooooooooo. They had to take the really BIG one. I thought it was impossible to think less of this town; I guess I was wrong.

The 38 Locks: Part 3

For some time I have been trying to go on a bike ride with one of my friends. On Saturday we finally got that bike ride. We did 25 miles in three hours. 25 MILES and today I am feeling every one of them. We started in Peninsula and went all the way north to the Canal Visitor Center near Valley View (Lock 29 to Lock 38). It was a magnificent October day for it too. The trees were all kinds of beautiful. The Ohio Erie Canal Towpath was alive with all kinds of wildlife; from other bikers to woolly bears. I am thinking about training all winter long to get in to shape so I can bike the whole Towpath next year. After that we went to the wife’s job to leave sweetness for her to find when she came into work. She had a bad week and needed help to find her smile. We ended the day by going to see W. and all I can is wow.

It Came From the Pumpkin Patch

That’s right; it’s my favorite time of the year. I love fall. And I love Halloween. It doesn’t really start until I pick out the pumpkins. They were all so beautiful this year that four had to come home with me and the wife. I am already coming up with ideas on how to carve them up. And the wife took lots of super cute pictures of herself. Then I went to the theater to see Blindness. It was a great movie; very disturbing. And I say disturbing because of what was going on it the film and what was happening in the theater. Some of the eight people that went to see it thought it was funny to laugh at the people affected with blindness. I was discussed. Coming to theaters next week is a very scary film called W. So tune in as Oliver Stone takes on his first horror movie.

Eye Spy

I went to do a few tasks for the wife today and then I treated myself to awesome food and a movie. The food came in the form of Taco Tontos. Tontos means fool in Spanish, but they don’t fool around. You eat like a king when your there. Then it was off to the theater to see Eagle Eye. I thought it was an outstanding thriller. It’s the kind of film Hitchcock would make if he were alive today. It's a modern "The Man Who Knew Too Much". Everyone will like this movie, I can’t see what there is to hate about it.

There is a Hungry Parasite in my Belly

Cedar Lee was showing Parasite in 3D this past weekend. I could ever tell you what the movie was about. It was part horror, part sci-fi, all comedy. It was one of those movies were it was so bad it was good. And as a special treat to Cedar Lee’s My Space friends, if you told the concession cashier that you've got a hungry parasite in your belly, you’d get a free 32 oz popcorn with any drink purchase. It was great; I think I was the only one with popcorn.

I complete forgot to mention seeing Burn After Reading the other day. I went to see it with the wife and it’s a great Coen Brothers movie. It reminded me of their early works like Blood Simple and Fargo. It’s worth checking out, but it’s not for everyone.

Villains

Today I went for a walk and took some nice pictures of the neighborhood and watched Heroes. It was awesome. I am still trying to calm down and not dork out too much. Those two hours were alot of fun.

30th Balloon A-Fair (1979-2008) or My 9:00am Wake-up Call

So this weekend was the 30th Balloon A-Fair in the town my wife and I call home. What fun! There is nothing in the world that can compare to the joy I felt when all the police and fire vehicles wake you up with their sirens. And what a parade it was.......and yet somehow it seemed less of what it has been in years past. After the grand parade, the wife and I go to the downtown area and get some food. While we are there, we say hello to one of our friends and I end up buying a pin. I always love to buy pins to mark the places or events I go to. Well this year’s pin said "30 Years of Magical Memories" and then it had the years 1979 and 2008 at the bottom. We want to know what magic they are using to come up with 30. Later on we went to go see the new Coen brothers’ movie Burn After Reading. It reminded us of their early films like Blood Simple and Fargo. It’s definitely worth a trip to the theater if you find yourself with nothing to do.
(By the way, I just had to include a picture of my wife and her hotness. All I can say is WOW!) (She is Beauty.)
