BEAUTIFULL•E DONE

Fun is our middle name and everyone knows it. Amy’s mom came down for crafting today. We also had a surprise visit from Liz and Chris. We said something about going to see WALL•E and getting food and they came running. I am the same way. Give me food and I’ll be your best friend or it will confuse me long enough to get what you want. So we all went to Mike’s Place in Kent. Mike’s Place is so cool that it has an X-Wing in the front parking lot. I would love to have an X-Wing in my front yard. Amy wouldn’t have it, but I think I can bribe her. Then it was on to my second favorite place in the world; the movie theater (the first being home with the wife). WALL•E was beautiful work of art. The creativity that flows from Pixar is truly wonderful to watch. I was enchanted from the opening cartoon to the end of the credits. The funny thing about it is that each year Amy watches the newest trailer and every year she says “I don’t know if this will be good”. After nine flawless films she now knows. I love to design of everything, especial EVE. Thomas Newman’s score was fantastic and if that wasn’t enough, the end titles are capped off with a song by Thomas Newman and Peter Gabriel. It was a great night and I look forward to next weekend. It’s the 4th of July and it’s another chance for me to try to take pictures of the firework only to have then not come out.

Bowie Baysox 10, Akron Aeros 11

My parents and I had a grand time at Canal Park in Akron. It was a stormy Monday night and it didn’t look like they would get the game in. The Aeros overcame a huge deficit to win 11-10 in 10 innings. The Baysox killed them is the first few innings making it a 9-3 lead. Little by little they drove in the run per inning until it was 10-6 going into the seventh. The Aeros would not give up. Fans were driven away by the rain and the slim chance of winning. And before you knew it, the score was 10-8 and then 10-9. Then Constanza rounded third and slid in safely to tie the game. It was crazy! Then Brandon Pinckney drove in the winning run on a sacrifice fly. This was the kind of game that they were suppose to lost, but didn’t. What a great game and it was dollar hotdog night as well.

Sweded

Amy and I just finished watching the latest film by Michel Gondry; Be Kind Rewind. All I can say is the man is a genius. There is so much heart in this movie that you cannot help but be moved by it. I recommend that everyone see it. The remade (sweded as it is called in the movie) scenes are outstanding. Be Kind Rewind was so good that I found myself smiling though the whole movie. And the ending is truly touching. It was a beautiful film. His movies live in a special world and I can see why people have a hard time understanding them. I remember reading horrible reviews for the film when it came out (not that I let them influence me). I am so glad that I saw something different then the people writing those reviews. My wife is so excited that her sleep shade thingy came today. She is the cutest.

HULK SMASH

My friend Sam and I went to see The Incredible Hulk on Saturday. It’s a great movie and it’s so much better than the first film. I am a fan of the first one, so that should tell you something. There is this great scene with he gets angry at the lightning during a storm. So he picks up a boulder and throws it at the lightning, trying to kill it. But that's not the best part of the story. That would be why Sam can't stay out and play anymore. That's because he is taking care of his girlfriend's mother's shih tzu ................That's right. I said shih tzu. Furthermore, it’s a republican shih tzu. I feel Sam deserves some kind of metal for this selfless act. My wife said he should dress the dog in an “I love Obama” t-shirt before they get back.

When Plants Attack

Welcome one and all to The George Show. This is the place for all things George. Today is Friday the 13th and what better way to celebrate it then with a movie. I went to see M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening. Traveling 7 miles, through all kinds of hardships like road construction, I made it to the theater. Only to find myself in 92 degree heat that baked my flesh. Oh the agony, I felt like I was about to stroke out at any moment as I walk to there. The good news is that I made it there a live, the bad news…….I’ll get to in a second. But first, what a great movie The Happening was. I thought it was a great concept to have the plants attacking us. I loved Shyamalan's homage to Hitchcock’s The Birds even though it was a deeply disturbing movie. If you are a fan of his other works, then go see it. If not please don’t. The bad news is that I wasn’t the only one who made it past the blazing inferno outside to the theater......so did two losers. It’s people like this that give dorks a bad name. I try to keep it together and not dork out too much in public. I have a wife to make me look respectable, but every now and then I can’t contain my dorkyness. But these people were just rude. Every time people died in the movie these two were laughing. Truthful I don’t know what was more disturbing; the movie or the fact that they were laughing at it. All I can say is that the plants were not working fast enough.
