Save the World
Tomorrow will suck. But tonight, the fates have smiled on me. I got off early tonight from work to hear Adam and Mike play at the Professor’s Pub in Kent. I haven’t seen these two in ten years. It was if the years between didn’t matter. I met Mike at high school, but Adam and I have known each other since grade school. We would hang out at recess together. When most kids were being introduced to cigarettes or drugs, Adam was introducing me to comic books. And it turns out that we both are big fans of Heroes. It was good seeing them both tonight. They each did a set of great music and in-between the moments of music we caught up with what we were doing with our lives. I hope to see them again soon.

Death Race 2008
It wasn’t poetry, but it did deliver the goods. That was the case with tonight’s movie Death Race. Its main export was fun and lots of it. I don’t need to tell you about the plot because there wasn’t one. It’s a race to the death. I did feel that it lives up to the legacy of the original film; Death Race 2000. I know it’s a bad movie, but sometimes you just want to see crap explode!

Harold Crick: "Big flag burning to get to?"
Ana Pascal: "Actually, it's my weekly evil-conspiracy and needlepoint group. You wanna come?"

"They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way."
The Sam Who Came to Dinner
Saturday was one of those days were you just decided to do nothing and that’s ok. The wife and I went to The Winking Lizard in Peninsula with some friends. They had great food there. We finished the day by watching Stranger than Fiction, which takes place in Chicago. The wife has 19 days till vacation and I have 17. Vacation here we come!
Picnic
Friday was picnic day. The wife and I went to the Metro parks to soak up the sun and enjoy this thing they call summer. We found a beautiful spot near the falls. Everyone else visiting the park thought it was a beautiful spot too, so we had many visitors. The food was great and so was day. After that the wife and I went to see the new Star Wars movie. It was so super cool. Did I mention it was a good day?

Perseid Meteor Showers
I spent the night gazing into the heavens to glimpse the meteor showers last night. I was very lucky and saw a few beautiful ones. I didn’t get any pictures of them, but that’s ok. I remember going camping around this time of the year and sitting up all night by the camp fire watching them. The Perseid meteor showers mark the start of my favorite time of the year; soon it will be fall.
Mr. Smith Goes to Kent State
So I was talking to one of my friends from high school. I had to ask him if he was going to the class reunion. He tells me no and then asks me if I have ever seen Kevin Smith speak when I was at Kent State. It’s a question I get asked all the time. Every so often someone recognizes me or the wife from the close up reaction shots. We think it’s amusing. It was one of the best things that happened at college other than meeting my wife. So I smiled and told him “yeah, that’s me”.
